Do You Really Need a Wedding Planner?

So, you’re engaged! The biggest congratulations – the post-proposal period is such an exciting time and something to make sure you relish in every second of, because pretty much as soon as that beautiful sparkly ring lands on your finger, comes the question…

“So when’s the wedding?!”

& this really is, when the fun starts… Planning your special day!

You may not know exactly where to start and I do have a little blog on what to start booking first, but before all that even commences, you may be asking yourself,  “perhaps I need a wedding planner?”

Whilst I may be a little biased, I want to give you my honest advice as to whether you really need a wedding planner…

The true answer of course does depend on many different elements, but take it from me (a wedding planner) and someone who is also newly engaged (AHH!) wedding planners really are worth their weight in gold!

What does a wedding planner do?

Truthfully, the better question would be, what don’t they do?!

Wedding planners help to make your wedding dreams come true from start to finish. They take care of every single detail, offering a wealth of experience and professional guidance to help you through each step of the journey.

From helping find your dream wedding venue to sourcing and managing all suppliers, wedding planners make the process simpler and smoother, allowing you to focus on the fun of it all and really enjoy it all – which is 100% what you deserve!

Of course, a wedding planner is not for everyone, but here are a few reasons why choosing to have a wedding planner could be the perfect option for you:

  1. If You Don’t Have the Time to Plan a Wedding

First things first, I am going to be completely real with you. Planning a wedding takes TIME, a lot of work, admin, paired with some serious organisation.

Even if you’re the designated planner in your friendship group or have a Type A personality, wedding planning is essentially a full-time job – and something you may just not have the time for.

Until you start to dip your toe into planning your wedding, I truly don’t think you can quantify just how much time it takes. From researching, contacting, and liaising with many different suppliers, who all respond at different times and through different channels – it can be tricky to stay on track.

That’s where a having wedding planner can really help. At the end of the day, this is what we do for a living, so we are wholeheartedly going to commit all our effort and energy to help you.

One wedding can have around 20 suppliers and take a year or more to plan which means thousands of emails trains, hundreds of phone calls, countless venue visits, and meetings – it really is a full-time job to plan a wedding.

If you have the luxury of time on your side, then you can of course plan a wedding on your own, but if time is limited, choosing to have a planner is certainly the best way to go!

  1. If You Find it Hard to Make Decisions

Whilst you and your fiancé may agree on most things, your wedding visions may not be perfectly aligned, which can make it tricky to make decisions.

Perhaps you’ve been dreaming of a chilled pizza party while your partner is picturing something a little more formal.

Having a wedding planner can help you both clearly define what you really want and help create a perfect plan for you both!

With so many suppliers to source and confirm, this can also be a little confusing when it comes to making the right decisions, particularly as you’re most likely going to be parting with quite a lot of your hard-earned money when confirming your dream wedding team – having a planner help guide your decision and offer their professional advice will help make the decision process much easier and also put your mind at rest.

Most planners are very well connected within the wedding industry and have worked with many amazing suppliers over the years and will be able to recommend those they can completely trust, that also match the wedding vision you have created together!

  1. If You’re Planning a Destination Wedding

Getting married an hour or so from home is one thing, but when you’re dreaming of a destination wedding, this really is a completely different scenario.

As we all know every wedding is different, and so is every destination!

Each country has its own rules, currency, and legalities – having a professional planner who can help navigate all the ins and out’s of this for you and give you the information you actually need can help save you from some pretty painful headaches!

  1. If You Want Your Wedding to be Memorable

For me, and for lots of other beautiful planners, we really believe your wedding day should be totally and completely, uniquely yours.

Don’t get me wrong venues have amazing lists of their suppliers, but that’s who is best for them, not YOU & one thing I am incredibly passionate about is ensuring your wedding day is all about the both of you.

Working closely with a wedding planner allows you to be really intentional with the wedding team who will be with you on the day to create the most special day of your life.

Your wedding planner will work to get to know your unique personalities and suggest suppliers and finer details that reflect your style and story – so that your day is different, unique to you, and super memorable for you both and all of your loved ones.

If you are looking for a completely tailored to your experience, having a wedding planner onside is definitely the right choice!

  1. If You Want to Simply Enjoy Your Wedding Day

Something I strongly believe every single couple deserves! Do you really want suppliers tapping you on the shoulder whilst your mid-meal to ask where they need to be or double-checking timings?!

Even if you really believe you’ve got the planning process handled, choosing to have a wedding planner on the day of your wedding, will give you full peace of mind that absolutely everything is being taken care of and allow you to relax and really enjoy your day!

As a planner, I know, no matter how much time and care has gone into the planning process, on the day itself – the plans may just not go perfectly…

A good wedding planner will always have a plan B, C maybe even Z ready to go should any little bumps in the road crop up – and what’s even better, you won’t need to be bothered with any issues, they will be on hand to take care of everything!

You, and your guests, can embrace and enjoy every single second while a professional wedding planner works tirelessly behind the scenes.

How To Find The Right Wedding Planner

I totally get that this is the most important day of your lives, so handling the planning and trusting your planning to take care of everything for you is huge you really do need to trust them implicitly and also get on with them!

Take a good look at their social media and websites, talk to them on the phone and ask a lot of questions. You are most likely going to be speaking with your lovely planner quite a lot so you need to be completely comfortable with them! Make sure they understand your vision, listen to you, and match your style, vibe and personality!
